Service Saturday: Non-native Pine Removal at Van Buren Street Dunes
Service Saturday: Non-native Pine Removal at Van Buren Street Dunes
Volunteer with us every 3rd Saturday!
Non-native pine trees are commonly found in many parks due to their previous commercial use. While not as harmful as other invasive species, non-native pines can encroach on native plant communities, so removal is a beneficial practice. Volunteers will work to remove small non-native pines with loppers and hand saws. All equipment and training will be provided.
What to wear: Warm winter gear, appropriate for off-trail work in possibly snowy conditions.
What to bring: Water bottle if desired
Where to meet: near the trail head in the parking area
Directions: https://bit.ly/3OFLrQR
Address: 16780 Van Buren St, West Olive, MI 49460
Weather policy: If constant rain or storms are forecast, this event will be canceled. In case of cancellation, all registrants will receive notice via email.
