Agates are a beautiful, naturally occurring mineral formation. Learn about the history of their use, how they are formed and where you can find them. You’ll get to observe a variety of agates up close and take home your own hand-crafted agate!

The Earth Encounters series aims to introduce people to the amazing geologic features of, and stories behind, the landscapes of our region. Whether you’re learning about a specific mineral or the formation of an entire landscape, this program is bound to be engaging for all! This program can take the form of either an indoor presentation, outdoor hike, or a combination of both.
